Caring for Your Myyra
Hand-printed, naturally dyed, made to last — with a little care.
Our textiles are hand block printed on cotton (organic or conventional) with GOTS-approved, AZO-free inks. A gentle wash keeps the color and the cloth beautiful for years. A note on first wash: a slight release of color is normal and expected with genuine hand block printing — it settles after the first one or two washes. It’s a sign of real craft, not a defect.
General rules for all Myyra textiles
- Wash separately for the first 2–3 washes, especially darker colors.
- Cold or lukewarm water (up to 30°C). Gentle/hand wash.
- Mild, neutral detergent. No bleach, no optical brighteners, no harsh stain removers.
- Turn inside out to protect the print.
- Dry in shade, not direct sunlight, to keep colors rich.
- Warm iron on the reverse. Steam is fine.
- Store clean and dry, away from damp.
Bed linen (sheets, duvet covers, dohars, quilts, bed covers)
Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, or hand wash. Wash separately the first few times. Tumble dry low or line dry in shade. Iron warm if needed. Avoid overloading the machine so the fabric moves freely.
Table linen (covers, runners, placemats, napkins)
Cold gentle wash. Treat food stains promptly with cold water and mild soap — never bleach. Iron slightly damp for a crisp finish. Store flat or rolled to avoid hard creases.
Cushion & pillow covers
Remove the insert before washing. Cold gentle/hand wash, dry in shade, iron on reverse. Re-insert while slightly cool.
Scarves, sarongs & apparel
Hand wash cold with mild detergent. Do not wring — press gently and roll in a towel to remove water. Dry flat or on a padded hanger in shade. Iron warm on the reverse.
Hand block printed running fabric (by the yard)
We recommend a cold gentle pre-wash before cutting or stitching, to pre-shrink and set the color. Do not soak for long periods. Dry in shade and iron before sewing.
Treated kindly, hand block printed cotton softens and grows more beautiful with age.
